Over the past few days I've been trying out a few writing assistants. Google Gemini for writing a base article which I then rewrite. Or flat-out generating content which I then proofread and correct or expand on. The goal here is to create more blog posts for my website ajdg.solutions without me spending whole days on content nobody will read. So far I'm not sure that I like what these things come up with. Sure, the content is OK. Most of it is truthful and based on what my plugins do. And in most cases it accurately describes features or lists the right benefits for using my plugins. That's all great!
But if I'm not careful it's also full of hyperbole and misleading statements, or the focus of the text is all wonky and highlights things that aren't that important. I'm not sure if me spending 3 hours to come up with a blog post myself, or 3 hours fixing nonsense text is better.
Google Gemini sort of promises me that certain texts work because it aligns with search trends or whatever. It also strongly recommends certain titles and keywords for the same reason. But I do not agree with most of those suggestions. The content or the wording is often very wrong or doesn't seem all that relevant. This then leads, in my mind, to incoherent writing. And if it reads like that I can't really publish it in good conscience. It's a weird dilemma to have.
Do I want to rank better on Google? Yes! But will I allow my website to turn into a soulless AI trash heap? I'd rather not...
I can't afford a content writer and my software and services aren't that exciting that I can write lots of posts about it. So maybe a bit of exaggeration, without being untruthful, is required to get new users interested in what I do?
I'm not sure where the balance it.
